Historic 64th Illinois Infantry "Yates' Sharpshooters" POW document from the "OFFICE OF THE COMMISSARY GENERAL OF PRISONERS".
Dated April 16th, 1866, the document states that Private Thomas Campbell of Company E was taken prisoner July 22nd, 1864 at the Battle of Atlanta, and released on April 28th, 1865. Signed boldly by the A. A. G.
Campbell was imprisoned at Andersonville and is listed as a survivor of that infamous POW camp.
I have not had the pleasure of owning such a document before and I have been doing this a long time. Document in fine condition, minor glue remnant near top of document.
