Issue of THE CHRISTIAN BANNER From Fredericksburg, Virginia July 2, 1862. This is a very pro-union newspaper printed in the heart of old Dixie! The Christian Banner newspaper first published in Fredericksburg, Virginia in Dec. 1848 and ceased in August 1862. It was established by James W. Hunnicutt who published it until August 1862.
There are many great articles about "African Slavery", "Negro Loyality", "Submission", as well as many other pro-union articles. There is a lot of war news in this issue. There is an old ink id on the front that reads "Thos. J. Strong." In very good condition with normal wear and tear along the edges and fold lines. There is a tear along the left edge (diagonal) that measures roughly 2.5" I found just one of these on the internet and it was selling for $395.00! $175.00 plus shipping
